API terms
These apply to the Magpie Cloud APIs, alongside our Terms of service. If the two disagree about the APIs, these win.
Your account and keys
You're responsible for everything done with your keys. Keep them on your server, and revoke one that may have leaked. You must give us accurate details and be old enough to enter a contract on behalf of a business.
What you pay
You pay for a monthly plan up front. Unused allowance doesn't roll over. We charge for what's delivered, as our pricing says, and may change prices with 30 days' notice.
Using the data lawfully
You decide what you do with what the APIs return, so you're responsible for doing it lawfully, including under data protection and direct marketing law where the people concerned are. That means having a lawful basis, telling people what the law requires, and honouring anyone who asks you to stop.
What you must not do
- Sell, publish or pass on what the APIs return as a list, a dataset or a service of your own.
- Use it to harass anyone, or for anything about people's private lives rather than their work.
- Send email that's unlawful, deceptive or unsolicited in bulk, or email anyone who has opted out.
- Get round our limits, or try to find out how the service works from the outside.
Sending email
You may only send from domains you control. Every marketing email must let people unsubscribe, and you must act on it. We look at accounts before they can send, set daily limits, and may pause sending that bounces or draws complaints, or that puts our servers' reputation at risk.
Your data and ours
We keep no copy of the searches you run or the people in their results. For verification and sending we process addresses to do what you ask, and keep hashes of the ones not to email. Where we process personal data for you, our data processing agreement applies.
If something goes wrong
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, or whose use puts the service or other people at risk. The APIs are provided as they are, with no promise of a particular uptime or result. Our liability is limited as our Terms of service say.
